Diary of a Student Part 1

Reading Festival (25-28th Aug 2000)

This was a big rock festival and my first major concert event (discluding the odd rave event I've been to). My intention was only to be there for a day I'd phoned the ticket centre's and all the weekend tickets had been sold out and only weekday tickets were available. On entering the site I soon realised that a weekend ticket wasn't really needed so I bought one day tickets. Full weekend tickets were available when I got there but I'd already bought my first one day one so It wouldnt have saved me anything. I met up with one of my best on-line mates and a girl I love to bits (she's been there for me more times than I can remember.) She ignored me for the whole weekend unfortuantley (due to being nervous she said) but we've sort of managed to work things out.Things don't always go to plan, especially in my life ( I can't remember a time when something actually want to plan :o) .) stuff between me & her isn't exactly the same as it was although at the time of writing its only been a few days. I hope things get back to how they were, plus I hope I get to meet her again someday.

The bands however were excellent in particualar Queen Adreena and Limp Bizkit which were my favourites. Big Bands such as the Stereophonics, Placebo, & Pulp, all rocked majorly and I went for a mosh when Slipknot came on. Most distinguishable moment was our Mr T flag and full credit goes to Richard Hamilton for that one, the flag became infamous due to one member of the group walking into the crowd doing Mr T impressions, chants such as "Shuttit Foo" and "I aint gettin on no aeroplane" brought amusment to the masses. The said guy then crowd surfed with flag aloft and actually got on camera quite a number of times, such fun. Oh yeah I managed to christen my first night at the event by falling head first into the fire due to copius amountsof alcohol, though on retrospect I probably would have done it anyway without being drunk (I always was a bit clumsy)

Another mentalist was Chris who at the Queen Adreena event took a photo of some girl then snogged her, and looked like he was buzzin that much he was going to explode, nice one for that.

Overall current feelings are I've lost a best friend and gained a love for big rock concert events. I'm working on the best friend thing though. She's got a boyfriend now so I spose that isn't helping and she doesn't feel she can talk to me like she used to, something I'm really quite upset about, but like I said its not been a week yet. I'm sure things will go back to normal eventually, its a shame if it doesn't. Anyway.......................

Hmmmmm How to descibe it, its like a big bridge thing that lifts boats and its absolutley HUGE. The reason for its being is to lift boats (obviously) from the Trent & Mersey canal to the river Weaver. I went with my mum and gran and we went on a cruise on a narrowboat and saw a bit of the scenery which was nice. I was served with a mightly fine pint of Stella Artois which was also very, very cheap. Oh yeah and we went through this big tunnel too at barton, which is just before the Preston Brook tunnel which is a massive 1 mile + a bit. The Anderton Boat Lift is currently undergoing major restoration work so that it can be used again and will cost around 7 million pounds to restore to new
